Talk description
Title:
Do we have to? - Pragmatism as a change management tool.
Short synopsis:
We’re over-processed, over-roled (if such a thing exists) over-fancy-techniques and tools and everything. In the world of ‘overs’ there’s often one thing that we tend to forget - context. And context is about what really matters. And sometimes what really matters is less. Less process, meetings, less corporate structures, simply less! Even though it seems obvious in reality it’s hardly observable. I’d like to share my own lesson learned throughout a few years of experience holding multiple roles like, Scrum Master, Agile Coach as well as observing the process from slightly different angle - being and living with Developer. I would like to focus on why pragmatism currently is the best answer in leadership sharing my own tips & tricks that helped me to see things differently. This talk is for everyone who works in change management areas and would like to grasp a fresh perspective on how to lead.

Long synopsis (optional):
A few years ago I’ve started my journey with Kanban Method. As I dive more and more into this way of working I’ve learned one, the most important thing - pragmatism. From my experience and observations of different teams and organizations we don’t have to do a lot of things to be Agile. Even though there’s this concepts of Agile onion (including mindset, principles, practices, etc.) I believe that the only thing that we need to build hyper-productive teams and organizations is the true mindset, leadership and motivated employees. We don’t have to do planning if we’re able to plan often and effectively. We don’t have to do daily meeting if we’re able to achieve the same results differently. We don’t have to have Scrum Masters/ Agile Coaches and other fancy we roles if we do have amazing leaders. We don’t have to estimate if we understand needs and are able to fulfill them. We don’t have to… we really don’t if we do have the right mindset and motivation to improve. I often hear a question - is it by the book? And to be honest - I don’t care as long as it works! Building amazing organizations that we can compare to the market leaders do no require Scrum, Kanban or anything. It requires more and different! The only thing we have to do is to find our way and reach for the best. Of course methods, frameworks, etc. can help us and yes they should help us (you know this part … over processes and tools) and here’s pragmatism. And going back to Kanban - it’s all about small steps, evolution - you can do a lot but you don’t have to! You need to find what works and tweak it to your needs. Let’s be pragmatic!
