Talk description
Title:
The tail that wags the dog, why we need to subordinate the organisation to the needs of the team
Short synopsis:
As we scale up our agile practices in large enterprises, it is all too easy to focus on the needs, desires, and impediments of senior leadership and middle management. Of course, without these folks, we risk starving or blocking our delivery teams. However, when we stop working directly with our delivery teams, we also risk some of our agile practices unravelling. In this talk, David recaps why it is critical to maintain a laser-focus on delivery teams, and how he helped bring this balance back in his role as Enterprise Agile Coaching Manager at Fiserv. It wasn't smooth running, but it was exciting, and ultimately successful.

Long synopsis (optional):
This talk will touch on TOC (as you might guess from the title) with some content lifted from a talk of the same name that I delivered to Scrum Atlanta in 2017. It will also cover how we focused on lifting the delivery teams up to be the best they can be, by introducing a dojo and bringing in two teams at a time (as we had split mobile app and platform work between teams) to reinforce how they needed to work closely together in order to truly get to DONE by the end of a sprint.
