Talk description
Title:
Acts of Heresy (and other amazing things to do with your organization)
Short synopsis:
We're floundering in a mess of certifications, frameworks, scaling options and common-or-garden snake-oil. This is commoditized agility at its worst. We spend millions on training, tooling, and consultants, and when we step back and watch the dust settle we find themselves wondering what the hell has actually changed. Why aren’t we “going faster”, why aren't our “resources” collaborating? Why isn't everyone “on-board”? Afterall we're “Agile” aren’t we? This talk examines how we tend to get lost on our agile journey and how we can find our way back again. Agility isn’t something you can install. It’s not a framework. It’s definitely not a religion. It’s realizing that sometimes it isn’t obstacles that keep us from our goals, but rather a clear path to a lesser goal. Learning Outcomes (1) Agile vs Agility - The difference between what you can buy and what you need to earn. (2) Hierarchy vs Networks - The true structure of your organization whether you like it or not. (3) Authority vs Autonomy - The fine line between enablement and anarchy (4) Facts vs Fables - Destinations, journeys and the fuzzy bits in-between (5) We can’t stop here! This is Bat Country! - A lesson from Hunter S. Thompson
