Have you read a novel, “The Phoenix Project” by Gene Kim, et. al? It is a fictional story about a tech company trying to make in the ever-changing IT world. What makes this book particularly amazing is how anyone who has work in the industry long enough can relate to the problems the Phoenix team encounters like luck of structured process, unreasonable deadlines, and hostility between business and engineering departments. In this talk, we will discuss “The Phoenix Project” as if it was a real use case from the perspective of Wellness. We will talk about stress burden that every character in this book has to go through and how every individual including management and developers could have tackled these problems. The goal of this discussion will be to get the audience to relate to individual scenarios from the book, and to see themselves as a part of the story and hopefully take away how everyone can change their individual work situation for the better.
