What I learned about motivation while loosing 4st in 5 months.
Short synopsis:
I’ve recently lost lots of weight. This isn’t a talk about how, more about change, habits, motivation, gamification, milestones, persistence and highs and lows and how we cope with them. I’d like to share what I’ve taken from this experience in relation to the challenges we face daily in work and life. Obviously this needs writing, but roughly: A short explanation of how I got to need to do this and how that lead to a strong motivation, with a visualisable consequence and measurable success criteria. Motivation: Have a compelling reason to do something. Visualise it. Habits: How to change. What that means, what are the blockers, what are the enablers? Blockers: inertia, energy, ability, environment. Enablers: A strong reason, gamification (metrics) - I was surprised by this as I thought I was immune!, measurable milestones, which are achievable but a stretch. Gamification: It’s not just an app. What other metrics do you care about? (T-shirt size?) Persistence: Sticking with it on the bad days!
