Title:
Achieving Customer Focus - What is it really and why does it matter to me?

Long synopsis (optional):
To be Agile you need to be aligned. When two people are not aligned on their goals it will be difficult to get useful outcomes from the relationship. I’ve spent a long time consulting in businesses where processes exist which seem to have become detached from their original intent. When an Agile implementation team seeking a mandate for small incremental changes clashes with an infrastructure team that is incentivised to avoid change and “risk”, how can the opposing goals be resolved to achieve a useful outcome? Becoming customer focused requires a change in culture at your organisation. In a customer focused environment everybody will understand how what they are doing contributes to a useful customer outcome. When everybody understands this and everybody works towards useful customer outcomes you will have alignment in your organisation and you will remove some of the shackles from your Agile delivery teams. I will deliver practical tips on how to achieve customer focus in your organisation based on my experiences in a tech startup and my time as a ThoughtWorks consultant.
