Talk description
Title:
Constrained Creativity
Short synopsis:
Within the government and defence domain there are many constraints on ways of working. Complete transparency is not always possible, for example. How can we adopt an agile mind set and apply those principles and practices if the foundations appear to be impossible to create? Looking to the world of the arts, we find constraints are an important part of creativity, whether self imposed or imposed out of necessity. Constraints are also needed for complex adaptive systems to work effectively. This talk looks at how people in other fields have used constraints to enhance creativity. I will share my experiences of how constraints have challenged our teams ways of thinking creatively about how they apply agile principles and practices. In doing so we find that not only can we achieve effectiveness, we can also learn unexpected things through applying these constraints.
