Talk description
Title:
From Chasm to Kano - an introduction to product thinking
Short synopsis:
It’s all very well asking a new product owner to think up a feature-set and put it in a backlog or dream up a good proposition, but what makes a product ‘good’? This session explains some of the thought patterns that must be considereed to advance a product in a marketplace and then describes some powerful methods that will help you decide whether to implement specific features or functions, and how soon. This talk will help people outside the sphere of formal product management get a sense of what to think about to build and market a solution, and how to approach and prioritise real customer needs.

Long synopsis (optional):
Note for evaluators only - This seesion starts with an overview of Chasm Theory (Crossing the Chasm from Geoffrey Moore), then goes into my tweaked version of Impact Mapping (Target Mapping), followed by creating Personas then into Empathy Maps, and finishes off with a walk-through of the Kano Model. This talk was very well received at Agile Bristol a couple of months back - it was was an over-full room and standing room only!
