Title:
Gardeners Question Time: How to Grow a Team
Short synopsis:
High performing teams do not happen as a consequence of adopting a framework. Teams need to be grown and nurtured to develop in the right direction, become well balanced, having a strong root system and be resilient. This talk takes you through the stages of growth, highlighting the critical stages, the signs of mis-growth and pruning tips.

Long synopsis (optional):
The session has three phases that each introduce concepts that build on each other, culminating in an easy understandable and relatable analogy of tree growth, that shows the key stages of team development, how far a coach/scrum master can take the team and where the team need to take themselves. The tree analogy combined with the other components I have used extensively and successful over many years of coaching and consultancy and has proven to be very effective in getting a team to understand the journey they need to be on. This has also been very successful when used with existing Agile teams in getting them to recognise that to move forward from where they currently are they will need to be first go backwards (pruning) before moving forward.
