Talk description
Title:
Beyond Frameworks
Short synopsis:
Frameworks like SAFe, LeSS and The Spotify Model are popular, especially for traditional enterprises looking to ‘Go Agile’. For some they can be a good starting point, especially as they often give management the feeling of structure and control they are used to. This can be advantageous if it persuades them to take the plunge, but at some point they will begin to limit your ability to evolve, and so it will be time to go it alone and forge your own path. The (often forgotten) opening line of the Agile Manifesto even tells us “We are uncovering better ways of developing software by doing it and helping others do it” so why do we feel the need to follow the pack? Surely we can do better. This talk will help you look for signs that your framework of choice is beginning to limit you, it will introduce you to some of the metrics you may use to govern at different stages of your journey and when to drop them, and provide insight from a traditional enterprise that has taken the plunge and gone Beyond Frameworks. Come and join me and learn what its like to set yourself free. Damn it feels good! “SAFe 7.3.6 for the Full Enterprise has been released, shall we upgrade?” Hell no, frameworks, where we are going we don’t need frameworks!
