Talk description
Title:
Seven Deadly Sins of Developer Happiness
Short synopsis:
In the modern IT world, with remote work, extra hours, shifting schedules, constant travels, and fast-evolving projects, our personal and professional life is tightly intertwined and it’s getting increasingly harder to say what the cause is of our happiness and unhappiness, does it come from our personal disbalance or professional dissatisfaction, burnout, boredom, lack of excitement, or the dreaded imposter syndrome. I’ve collected and analyzed the seven most common problems that developers face in their professional life, based on our experience at JetBrains. I will introduce seven habits that can be used to combat these issues and help developers to enrich their professional life with happiness, meaning, and increased productivity. Some of these habits are strongly connected with developing an agile mindset and performing agile practices on daily basis. You’ll be surprised how your view on the most common activities and attitude might change when you take a step back to connect the dots and draw a parallel between your thoughts, beliefs, actions, and emotions. In this talk, I will draw on content from a variety of fields, including psychology, neuroscience, and behavioral decision theory to offer a tested and practical recipe for leading a happy, fulfilled, balanced, and productive professional life.
