Talk description
Title:
Seven dangerous things you should let your teams do
Short synopsis:
Back in 2007 Gever Tulley wrote a book (and TED Talk) on 50 dangerous things you should let your kids do. Stuff like drive a car, or operate machines, etc. A "Do Try This At Home" kind of thing. That got me thinking on: What should leaders let their teams do? In this talk we'll review some possible examples, and discuss what are the conditions that should exist in order to make this safe-to-fail. We'll then walk-through designing an experiment for one dangerous thing you can safely take away and try in your own team - if you dare!

Long synopsis (optional):
During the talk we will: - Run through several possible dangerous things. For example: Talk to the customer, change the infrastructure, reinstall the product from scratch - things that many teams either never do or rely on other to do for them. - We'll then talk about conditions to make such experiments sustainable. For example: * What can we learn from the Cynefin Framework to create such conditions? * What mindset do we want to foster, and how? (I am considering relating to The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, but not decided yet). * Who do we need "on the bus" to make that happen? Finally, in the last 15 minutes of the session we'll create together a safe-to-fail experiment of one dangerous thing for the team to do. My idea is for people to work in teams - depending on the room physical setting. The idea is that people will have tangible outcomes from the session to take home and try
