Talk description
Title:
How to stop worrying and leave work on time
Short synopsis:
The Agile Manifesto tells us that "Agile processes promote sustainable development. The sponsors, developers, and users should be able to maintain a constant pace indefinitely". So how is that we are still operating in a world where working through lunch and out of hours, and completing sprints and projects with heroes efforts are the norm? In this talk, I will call on my own experiences of working long hours, fighting fires and chasing my own tail in the quest for control over my project and workload, culminating ultimately in burnout before achieving enlightenment and a changed perception of what work life balance really means. By sharing my story and views, I hope to inspire people that are suffering from an unsustainable workload and dysfunctional environment, and help to catalyse the changes that will help improve their world!
