Talk description
Title:
The Trials and Tribulations of Starting and Growing an Agile Organisation.
Short synopsis:
From the beginning, Headforwards has embraced Agile. All along our growth journey we relentlessly looked to avoid organisational impediments to Agile that we were aware of. We are now a larger organisation - 8 years old, 100 people. We are experiencing "growing pains". Find out how we plan to avoid the pitfalls of so-called "common sense" approaches to organisational growth.

Long synopsis (optional):
When we set up Headforwards, from the step-off, front and centre in our thoughts was Agile. We wanted to setup an organisation that, in and of itself - structure, processes, office layout, values, philosophy - did not impede the business value our clients would get through Agile software development. In this talk I'd like to begin by sharing our ideas, why they were important to us and our successes and failures. We are now a 100-strong company and by AOTB19 we'll be 8 years old. We are beginning to experience "growing pains" (think Harry Enfield's Kevin Patterson - I'm sure Alan will get the picture), where the "common-sense" response leads us down a Tayloristic management style of leadership, with HR bearacracy and hierarchy - AArrrggghhh!!! Run! Our plan. To avoid this at all costs. How? This, I will discuss.
