Talk description
Title:
Test Driven HTTP API Development
Short synopsis:
JSON-based HTTP APIs are now commonplace as tools for client to service and service to service interactions. While there are many excellent frameworks for creating API services the available tools for testing (especially while developing) tend to obscure the details of the HTTP interaction. This talk will explain why those details can matter and demonstrate a tool, gabbi [1], that can be used to develop an HTTP API in a test-driven fashion. There will also be a discussion of why, in a world with Open API [2], test-driven API development remains relevant. [1] https://gabbi.readthedocs.io/ [2] https://www.openapis.org/
