Long synopsis (optional):
This session shares some practices and recurring themes we’ve found improve a delivery’s discovery phase. The first few weeks of a new delivery are critical, particularly if it’s a new client or newly formed team. Relationships and trust need to be built, knowledge and understanding needs to be acquired, and a clear vision needs to be established. Discovery phases also have the added pressure of not producing much tangible software at the end of them, which can make clients uneasy about what they’re actually getting for their money. Finally, there is the expectation that the discovery will answer the million-dollar question, when will the final product be delivered, and how much will it cost? This session will step you through the what, how and why of various workshops we use to take us from successfully engaging with the client team to the collaborative delivery of a release weather-map. Common techniques that span all our workshops will also be illustrated.
