Talk description
Title:
Rite de passage – kick start your transformation!
Short synopsis:
Most Agilists agree on one thing: Agile is not easily implemented. It’s a mindset. It’s about values. It’s about a culture of continuous improvement. In various engagement frameworks anthropological wisdom is dug up to understand how culture evolves in general, and what might help in a corporate environment to get people included and engaged. This workshop will show in theory and in practice how cultural change can be achieved by taking the audience through a “Rite de passage”. What can we learn from this worldwide phenomenon and how can we apply it in our journey towards enterprise agility?

Long synopsis (optional):
Almost 20 years after the publication of the Agile Manifesto many companies have started an Agile transformation. Some of these transformations became success stories, but there are also many examples in which the profit of the transformation turned out to be marginal. Implementing Agile by simply applying the Scrum framework doesn't seem to do the trick. Most Agilists agree on one thing: Agile is not easily implemented. It’s a mindset. It’s about values. It’s about a culture of continuous improvement. In most of the engagement frameworks that are likely to become more popular in the next years, like Open Space Agility and deep democracy, Anthropological wisdom is dug up to understand how culture evolves in general. This might help in a corporate environment to get people included and engaged and hence change culture. Jasper Lamers (Anthropologist and Agile consultant at Xebia), Wessel Hofman (Rugby player and Agile coach at Scrumit) and Nienke Alma (Agile Coach at ING) will show in theory and in practice how cultural change can be achieved by taking the audience through a “Rite de passage”. What can we learn form this worldwide phenomenon and how can we apply it in our journey towards enterprise agility?
