Talk description
Title:
Extreme delivery - hands-on XP techniques without the code
Short synopsis:
As a: software delivery influencer (scrum master, coach, manager) who doesn't have a technical background I want: a hands-on understanding of extreme programming techniques So that: I can confidently encourage my team(s) to adopt them. This workshop uses creative story writing (actual stories, not user stories!) to bring you on a journey of collaboration and shared authoring that will provide you with a clearer understanding of: - test driven development - continuous integration - pair programming - mob programming - fast feedback loops

Long synopsis (optional):
In 2018 I gave a talk called "XP Revisited" at Lean Agile Scotland which, in part, lamented the lack of XP adoption in the agile community. In response, and in an attempt to encourage more people to give it a go, I created a workshop that teaches XP techniques to a non-technical audience without the use of code. I returned to Lean Agile Scotland in 2019 and delivered this workshop which i have also run at meet-ups and client sites numerous times. My hypothesis is that even though Scrum masters, coaches & managers may understand the supposed benefits of XP. Often, they may not be comfortable or confident enough to promote XP within their teams if they are non-technical or have not practiced XP themselves. This workshop uses creative story writing (actual stories, not user stories!) to bring attendees on a journey of collaboration and shared authoring that provides them with a clearer, hands-on understanding of: - TDD * - Continuous Integration - Pair programming - Mob programming - Fast feedback loops *The TDD exercise builds on top of some work done by Amatai Schleier (a US based Coach). The intended audience is non-technical Scrum masters, non-technical coaches, non-technical managers who wish to gain a hands on understanding. This session is also for agile coaches who DO understand the XP practices but are looking for a way to introduce it to their non-technical peers, clients etc.
