Talk description
Title:
Wanna be Agile? Transform your People functions
Short synopsis:
Organisations which want to undergo Agile transformation often focus ONLY on learning and implementing the engineering & delivery practices / rituals of Agile However, I believe that this myopic approach does NOT help organisations become Agile Citing the Agile Manifesto, I will emphasize that for successful Agile transformation, transformation of People functions is a MUST To be Agile, we must transform the way we recruit our teammates and the way we engage with them, before focusing on practices

Long synopsis (optional):
So you want your organisation to become Agile. You hire an expert "Agile Consultancy" which can help your company undergo "Agile transformation". The consultancy comes in, collaborates with your engineering & delivery teams, teaches them all the Agile practices / rituals (...storyboarding, iteration planning, stand-up meetings, scrums, pair programming, TDD, automation, CI, CD, fortnightly releases... and so on). Your teams start following these practices daily. Would you say your company has become Agile? Would they continue being Agile once the consulting gig is over? My answer to both questions, as taught by experience, is NO. People functions are often overlooked in Agile transformation gigs in favour of engineering & delivery practices, which I believe is a recipe for failure. Citing the Agile Manifesto, I will show how, apart from Agile practices, organizations must shape their recruitment focus and their people policies in order to be Agile.
