Talk description
Title:
The Art of Storytelling
Short synopsis:
Waterfall has requirements. Agile has stories. But why? What’s special about a story that makes it different from a requirement? And what does this mean for us as we write stories and use them to manage our Agile projects? In this session we will take time to look more closely at Agile user stories and what it means to write a good story, one that can help you and the rest of your team make purposeful progress on your projects.

Long synopsis (optional):
Starting from the premise that agile stories are *stories*, we will look at the ingredients of a good story - a story you want to keep reading until you get the to end - and use this to focus on what makes a good agile story. We will then take a tour through the kind of things that typically go wrong with the real-life stories on our backlogs, and see what we can do to improve them and making them work better for team. In the course of the talk, we will meet a number of characters who will help us on our way, including Dorothy, the Tin Man, and a goat called Billy the Kid.
