Talk description
Title:
Adventures on the Agile Titanic
Short synopsis:
This is the story of how a large-scale, distributed, and supposedly “agile” project, that had failed to deliver after over 6 years of development, and was already 2 years late, was turned into a high-performing truly Agile, Lean and DevOps-driven project that has finally engaged its stakeholders and started to regularly deliver releases into production. Join us to learn how we managed to avoid the impending iceberg and steer the ship on a new path to a rewarding destination.

Long synopsis (optional):
Large software delivery projects are difficult. They are also not made any easier when you have a distributed team with a lack of collaboration internally and externally, driven by command-and-control management, metrics that encourage the wrong behaviour, and an approach that’s called “agile” but that is anything but Agile. With a few analogies to how the story of the large and risk-ignoring Titanic met an awful fate, we tell a story of what we discovered when we arrived to help, how we encouraged the leaders to adopt major change, and how we guided the project to a position where both the project and the people were in a much better place, while being sure of how they could reach their desired destination.
