Talk description
Title:
Using the Toyota Improvement Kata to solve complex problems
Short synopsis:
As a technical leader working on large strategic problems can be daunting. It’s hard to know where to start or which problem to work on and even how to approach the sisyphean task of moving the mountain. For example, some of the complex problems we’ve come across are transitioning to a cloud native way of working, modernizing a legacy application or going from irregular deployments to continuous delivery. Most of the people start by identifying current bottlenecks, use their existing knowledge & start solving for those bottlenecks. Toyota Improvement Kata by Mike Rother takes a different approach. It encourages you to look at a long term vision, approach problem solving by using scientific thinking & moving towards that long term vision instead of solving the known bottlenecks. This talk focuses on: History & learnings from how Toyota works Toyota Improvement Kata - What, Why & When? A framework for applying the Toyota Improvement Kata War stories of using the improvement kata to solve real world complex problems
