Title:
Surviving the Dip in the J-Curve Of Transformation
Short synopsis:
The DORA “State of DevOps” report 2018 identifies an interesting J-curve of transformation. It’s easy to find quick wins for a technology transformation by adopting automation and the public cloud. However soon enough these quick wins add to technical debt and increase test requirements. The quick wins run into organisational blockers and fail to sustain the transformation. This is the dip in the J-curve of transformation & the teams that understand & survive the dip become high performers. Teams that don’t make it through stay as low and medium performers. The gap between high and medium performers is widening & thats why its important to survive the dip. We have seen organizations struggle to survive the J-curve dip, while doing the transformation. We will use war stories from various transformations to talk about common challenges, mistakes & success stories. Leaders are tasked with leading the organisational transformation on both technical and cultural fronts. They need to know what it takes to survive and sustain the transformation.
