Title:
This Isn’t Big Brother
Short synopsis:
Holiday Extras have created Agile Check-Ins to support teams at a distance - adding maximum value with reducing Agile Coach resources across an ever-growing team. They’ve developed a self-serving site and started tackling team metrics via their Check-Ins. This led to challenges - teams feeling checked on not checked in with. Data drives so much of what we do for our customers, why should that be different for team performance? Find out how you can consider doing the same in your organisation.

Long synopsis (optional):
The role of Agile Coach has evolved at Holiday Extras. Finding new ways to add maximum value, with reducing resources across an ever-growing team is an ongoing challenge. To do this they have created Agile Check-Ins to support teams at a distance. This has led to challenges around being perceived as spies or checking up, rather than checking in with teams. This has proved even harder as we start to implement increased metrics and performance data. Data drives so much of what we do for our customers, why should that be different for Team Performance? Nick and Han will talk through how Check-Ins have evolved and will continue to change at HX. Essentially the aim is to have conversations with the whole team and stakeholders, attending meetings for a period of time and now also analysing metrics like velocity and scope creep to get a full picture of how the team are performing. It’s not about making judgements, spying on teams or telling teams what to do. Check-Ins are about trying to support multiple teams with the little resource they have, helping them to continuously improve as well as having something tangible and comparable to show the difference the Agile Coach role is making. You’ll be able to see the full range of metrics Nick and Han use at Holiday Extras across a Web Team of over 100 people, as well as reaching out to the wider business with a team of just three Agile Coaches.
