Long synopsis (optional):
When a company makes physical products, it can be hard to get away from some elements of waterfall development, and when the company is making lots of different products which all need to use your apps & system yesterday, it is even harder. Over the last 18 months we have been rapidly growing a team to bring all the development in house and change the way we deliver software, whilst clinging on to our agile principles like a life raft. We will talk about how the teams have grown around the world, and what we leaned we had to do, quite often the hard way, as they got bigger. Growing a team quickly whilst keeping and nurturing the right innovative culture is hard, there are things which we have found really helped and others which have spectacularly not. We will also talk about where we had to invest sweat and tears before we really started to see our teams accelerating and enjoying the ride, and the hazards we can still see ahead and are desperately working out how to paddle around them.
