Talk description
Title:
What went wrong when manufacturing businesses embraced agility?
Short synopsis:
For years, legacy manufacturing business have used up-front planning to deliver hardware in a single big bang. The long lead time worked for their customers at that time who did not expect quick change delivery. Digital technologies have not only radically changed how services are delivered, but also they have shaped demands and expectations of the impatient consumer. The Internet has now made complex service delivery and manufacturing, fast-paced and certain. As a result, old solutions often don't work in the new. In a world where organisational agility could be the difference between succeeding and failing, does the answer to time-to-market and quality related challenges facing hardware manufacturing lie in agile? Can we make continuously deliver hardware in sprints? Based on 14 years of experience using agile in complex environments and organisations around the world, this talk looks at the above questions, things that went wrong while injecting agility into legacy manufacturing organisations and a few lessons and actionable insight that were gleaned from it.
