Title:
The Highs and Lows of running a Community of Practice
Short synopsis:
Having a Community of Practice is a great way for people to share skills in an organisation. But how easy is it? What can go right, and what can go wrong? I'll share my experience in running them for 2 years, so you can hopefully mimic my highs, and help avoid (or at least reduce) my lows, allowing yours to run more smoothly.

Long synopsis (optional):
I'll start with an overview of what a Community of Practice is, so I don't make a false assumption of understanding. I'll walk through the journey I went through with our first Community of Practice at my workplace, what did and didn't work for it. I'll mention how it inspired others to be started at my workplace, some doing better than others due to learning from us, whilst others falsely call themselves a Community of Practice. The takeaways will include: Activities and exercises that any Community of Practice can use, regardless of their field. How to get the community engaged The hurdles of getting it started The benefits of having one
