Talk description
Title:
Supporting the mob: moving from process to relationships
Short synopsis:
How does your role as a leader change when your team goes all in on mobbing? Three years ago we set up a team with a radical approach to its work: It decided to mob. Everything. From discovery to delivery. The team has been successful, but changing ways of working has also changed the demands on leadership. Focus has moved from structure and process to individuals and relationships. Or, in short: to Psychological Safety.

Long synopsis (optional):
In 2017, SVT (Swedish Public Service Television) launched a new development team responsible for delivering on the company's online Sports strategy. The team applied a radical approach to it's work by deciding to not just mob programme, but to mob everything – from backlog prioritising to discovery to delivery. The team has been a huge success, but changing ways of working has also changed what is wanted by the team in terms of support from management and leadership. Moving from a more "traditional" agile set up (e.g. Scrum) to all in mob has stressed other aspects than the usual when working in teams. Process and methodology is almost single handedly taken care of by the team itself. Rather, what they ask for support with now, is on a deeper relational and individual level: ”How do I know that I contribute to the work the team does?” ”How do I continue to develop in my role when the team's work is carried out in the mob?” Why this is the case and how to handle these questions – and a whole bunch of others – is what I'd like to adress, as well as to give an overview to the different tools used by the team to solve the most important question they ask themselves every day: What do we do next in order to make progress?
