Long synopsis (optional):
If agile training and coaching have not yet worked, consider investigating what might be keeping the organization stuck. Instead of trying to “change” the hearts and minds of folks, it may be wise to begin the agile journey “exploring” what resides in their hearts and minds and how it got there. This talk reveals the stuff from which project overseers must disengage in order to become agile. That stuff that has been axiomatic to project management for a long time and must now be released in order to make the transition to agile. An investigation into why some people scream, “NO” whenever the topic of agile is brought up. In order to move forward you must first let go, but you can’t let go until you know what you are holding on to. If you can resonate with the core fears and anxieties of folks that must shift to agile, you are best positioned to instigate a more graceful transition. This discussion will help tune your receptors to the signals of fear and anxiety that folks emit when they are asked to make the transition to agile. This discussion will also demonstrate that these same folks do not possess those fears and anxieties by choice. • Identify roadblocks to agile more readily at work • Explain the emotional situational awareness of your strongest agile resistors • Construct a more mindful transition to agile SESSION BREAKDOWN Handouts: The Three-Card exercise will be handed out at the appropriate time.
