Bio:

Originally trained as a scientist, Tariq has over 20 years experience across startups, global enterprises and most recently in central government working on projects of national importance. His previous work on open source, open standards and transparency has developed into addressing the growing challenge of safe, ethical and responsible use of machine learning and AI. He firmly believes vibrant communities are the foundation of successful high-skills economies, and that we should encourage new entrants into technology from whatever background or level they are. He runs the Algorithmic Art community of over 4000 members, the growing Data Science Cornwall group, and an oversubscribed children's code club. He previously co-organised the London Python meet-up doubling its membership and activity in 2 years. He's a successful author and regular speaker at local and international conferences, and takes too many opportunities to encourage children and artists into STEM subjects and digital literacy.
